Playstation 3 closing the gap on the Xbox 360.

It’s amazing how far Sony’s Playstation 3 has come. In the early days of the current console generation it was dead last with no hope of ever catching up but now things have changed.

The 360 came out of the gate first and had a solid year to build it’s fanbase. The PS3 and Wii came out within the same week however because of it’s insane price ($599), the PS3 fell to last place instantly. While the PS3 is still in 3rd place it has come extremely close to the 360 ever since the price was slashed to $299 and the sexy PS3 “slim” (as it has been unofficially called) came out.

The PS3 always had the better selection of games but due to the asking price it had a hard time finding it’s way into people’s living rooms. Now that it’s priced competitively the PS3 is on a roll and I predict will one day surpass the 360. The Wii will never come close to being challenged but then again, the Wii is not a console for traditional gamers so it isn’t exactly fair to lump it in with the PS3 and 360.

Congratulations to Sony who are FINALLY making a profit from PS3 sales and who will soon be the number 1 console for true gamers.
