March 22nd 2011: The day of the HD collections

This is pretty insane. Not only will the Tomb Raider trilogy be released on March 22nd but now, Ubisoft has just announced that it will release HD versions of the Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia trilogies on the same day. That’s nine games for $120!

The Prince of Persia games are currently available on the Playstation network but it’s nice that North Americans will finally have the trilogy on a blu-ray disk just like the Europeans have had for a few months now.

The Splinter Cell trilogy is going to be a kind of interesting for me. The original Splinter Cell stands as the only game that I’ve played since the NES days that I have not completed. The stealth mechanics to me where not on par with those of Metal Gear Solid and it made the game frustrating. However, with this HD collection coming out, I think it might be a good time to replay and finish that game so that I’ll have a spotless record when it comes to completing games that I have started.

So there it is, nine games with prettied up graphics for $40 a pop. You can’t beat that.
