Warner Brothers has been on a roll as of late with their straight to dvd releases and at long last they are about to adapt one of the most iconic Batman stories; The Dark Knight Returns.
The Dark Knight Returns (written/drawn by Frank Miller) is one of the keystones in comics which ushered in a new mature and gritty era in graphic storytelling.
The story follows Batman after he has passed his prime and he decides to take up the cape and cowl once more. But things have changed as costumed heroes have been outlawed, Gotham is worse than ever and the city is overrun by gangs of ruthless mutants.
The cast include David Selby (Dark Shadows) as Commissioner Gordon, Ariel Winter (Young Justice) as Robin, Wade Williams (Batman: Under the Red Hood) as Two-Face, Michael McKean (This is Spinal Tap) as Dr. Bartholomew Wolper and the awesome Peter Weller (Robocop) as The Dark Knight himself.
The adaptation of the comic will be split into two halves, the first half coming out September 25, 2012.
