Playstation collections coming later this month

Posted: August 7, 2012 by Tony Polanco in COOL STUFF

We already knew that the Ratchet & Clank HD collection was on its way but Sony has decided to up the ante with two other collections hitting at the same time. God of war and inFAMOUS will also be getting the collected treatment come August 28th.

When Metal Gear Solid 4 came out, the Playstation 3 had yet to implement its trophy system. Even though trophies were enabled on the system less than half a year AFTER MGS4 came out, it hasn’t gotten a patch for them until now. It must be because of the MGS 25th anniversary.

I won’t waste too much time introducing this one. Comic con is currently going on in San Diego and a new trailer for Season 3 of AMC’s The walking dead was shown.

Check out the zombified goodness after the break.

For anyone who’s played Mass effect 3, you know that squad mate James Vega was involved in a pretty rough mission just prior to the events of that game. We’ll get to finally SEE that story in the Mass effect anime “Paragon lost“. The animation is being handled by Japanese studio, T.O. Entertainment and judging from the trailer, looks very impressive. The only downside here is that people who’ve played the game already know how this story ends. That aside this should make for one cool anime.

Nights: Into dreams gets resurrected in HD

Posted: July 5, 2012 by Tony Polanco in COOL STUFF

This is a good day for us Sega Saturn faithful. The classic Nights: Into dreams is FINALLY getting an HD remake. This is one of the seminal games of the highly overlooked Sega Saturn and it’s about time that it gets put out there for old schoolers and a new generation of fans to enjoy. As you’ll see in the trailer, the game has been remastered nicely. If you want a true Sega Saturn experience you can even make the game look the way it did originally.

Check out the trailer after the jump.

Here’s one for the old school Capcom fighting game fans. Marvel super heroes and Marvel vs Capcom are getting re-released in a dual pack game called Marvel vs Capcom: Origins. Both games appear to be arcade perfect and will have graphics filters, dynamic challenges and of course, online play.

Finish the game before you review it!

Should a game reviewer play through an entire game before writing a review for it?  Some will say no. People that fall into this camp believe that a couple of hours of play time is enough to judge whether a game is good or not. I totally disagree with this notion. I’ll give you some examples of why an honest reviewer, who cares about informing people about a product that they are considering purchasing SHOULD play a game from beginning to end.

Okami HD. Coming soon to a PS3 near you.

Okami is reborn! The cult classic Capcom game is coming to the Playstation 3 and it looks better than ever. It will be available through the Playstation store and will have trophy and Move support. For people who’ve never played the game or for those who want to relive it, here’s your chance.

Check out the trailer after the break.

The specter of the next generation of video game consoles definitely hung over the 2012 Electronic entertainment expo. It’s logical seeing as how we’ll be getting new consoles as early as Fall of next year. Nintendo rolled out its new console with the Wii U but since the system isn’t any more powerful than current gen machines, it doesn’t qualify as true next gen. Microsoft and Sony didn’t show any new systems or give us any glimpses as to what next gen games would be like but game developers were a different story. They had no qualms whatsoever with showing the world what they want next gen games to look like and in some cases, showing us what next gen games WILL look like.
