So Nintendo took the proverbial stage and gave all of us a better taste of what’s to come Novermber 18th with the Wii U console and launch titles. I saw some neat stuff with Nintendo Land and the mini-Metroid world and got a little excited for New Super Mario Bros U.. But overall, it’s the same stuff we’ve seen from E3. After 24 years of power, Nintendo has finally decided to lay Nintendo Power magazine to rest.
Hello kiddies, CoolStuff here. We would like to proudly announce that our own Romudeth has gone to the next level. He is now currently a writer and editor for stfuandplay.com. Some of you may see this as a bad thing for Cool Stuff seeing as he was our top contributor. We assure you that Romudeth will continue to have a hand in Cool Stuff as it’s Chief Editor. This role is a bit more behind the scenes but we all feel it is the best due to Romudeth’s growing schedule at STFUandPlay and it is critical to keeping the quality and standards we strive for here Cool Stuff.
Should a game reviewer play through an entire game before writing a review for it? Some will say no. People that fall into this camp believe that a couple of hours of play time is enough to judge whether a game is good or not. I totally disagree with this notion. I’ll give you some examples of why an honest reviewer, who cares about informing people about a product that they are considering purchasing SHOULD play a game from beginning to end.
Nintendo Co. Ltd in Japan today announced the revised Nintendo 3DS LL system that will launch in Japan on July 28th. The system looks pretty slick with beveled edges and much larger screens. The top stereoscopic screen increases in size from 3.53 inches to 4.88 inches. The bottom touch screen will go from 3 inches to 4.18 inches.
The specter of the next generation of video game consoles definitely hung over the 2012 Electronic entertainment expo. It’s logical seeing as how we’ll be getting new consoles as early as Fall of next year. Nintendo rolled out its new console with the Wii U but since the system isn’t any more powerful than current gen machines, it doesn’t qualify as true next gen. Microsoft and Sony didn’t show any new systems or give us any glimpses as to what next gen games would be like but game developers were a different story. They had no qualms whatsoever with showing the world what they want next gen games to look like and in some cases, showing us what next gen games WILL look like.
The Electronic Entertainment Expo has come and gone so it’s time to break the show down to its constituent parts and talk about what we liked and didn’t like. This might get messy in both good and bad ways so prepare yourselves. This is what the staff of CoolStuffTheBlog thought of E3 2012.
