Darksiders II Review

Posted: August 22, 2012 by Tony Polanco in Artology, COOL STUFF, REVIEWS

Our own Romudeth has just completed a review of Darksiders 2 for here is a taste.

Humanity is no more. Wiped out by a prematurely initiated Armageddon, the only salvation for Mankind lies with the Grim Reaper himself: Death. The Pale Rider’s fellow Horseman, War has been accused of this crime and if Death can resurrect Mankind, then perhaps his brother’s innocence will be recognized by both Heaven and Hell. This is the ambitious set up for the equally ambitious game, Darksiders II. The original Darksiders was a buffet table of various video game genres that were all distilled into one incredibly cohesive and enjoyable experience but Darksiders II takes what was already in place and adds even more variety into the mix.

From the mind of Kim Swift; former lead designer on Valve’s Portal, comes Quantum Conundrum. Does the new franchise hold a candle to Swift’s previous work? Find out after the jump.

Resident Evil: Revelations Review

Posted: June 22, 2012 by E-mann in REVIEWS

The fifteenth anniversary of Resident evil is in full effect and to celebrate the event, Capcom is releasing a whopping three Resident evil games this year. The first one that hit stores is Resident evil: Revelations. In recent years, critics have panned the series for not being innovative since Resident evil 4. Does this chapter for the Nintendo 3DS hold a candle to Resident evil games of the past or is it another step in the wrong direction?

The Avengers Review

Posted: May 4, 2012 by Tony Polanco in REVIEWS

For the past 4 years, Marvel studios has been preparing us for a big screen Avengers movie with Iron Man (2008), The incredible Hulk (2008) , Iron Man 2 (2010), Thor (2011) and Captain America (2011) .  Despite the fact that all of these movies were great, it was still up in the air whether The Avengers could live up to or surpass them since ensemble super hero movies are very hard to nail down.  Thankfully with nerd god Josh Whedon at the helm a movie that could have been an utter disaster is instead quite possibly (i.e IS) the greatest super hero movie of all time.  The Avengers is so good it’s ridiculous.

Mass effect 3 Review

Posted: March 19, 2012 by Tony Polanco in REVIEWS

I can’t think of another game that has had as much hype behind it as Mass effect 3.  The story that began in 2007 and continued in 2010 is one of the most beloved in video game history and has created a very loyal and rabid fanbase.  Gamers that have spent the last five years following the exploits of series star Commander Shepard and his/her crew have been awaiting this day with much anticipation.  As the finale to arguably the greatest franchise of this console cycle, Mass effect 3 has a lot to give up to.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 Review

Posted: February 27, 2012 by Tony Polanco in REVIEWS

Even though it sold nearly 5 million copies worldwide, Final Fantasy XIII is generally regarded by most fans and critics as one of the weakest entries in the much beloved Japanese role playing game series.  I personally never felt this way but the game was accused by many of being too linear and not as expansive as western rpgs or even previous Final Fantasy games.  Perhaps it’s no coincidence then that the story to the follow up game, Final Fantasy XIII-2 would be centered around travelling through time and fixing mistakes of the past.  For the most part, Final Fantasy XIII-2 succeeds in giving gamers the kind of Final Fantasy game that they want while still evolving the series with some western inspired gameplay mechanics.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake eater 3D Review

It’s the 25th anniversary of Metal Gear and what do we get?  A port of a game that was ported just 3 months ago. Is Metal Gear Solid: Snake eater 3D a different enough version for you to spend money on again or should you skip it?

Mass effect 3 demo impressions

Posted: February 20, 2012 by Tony Polanco in REVIEWS

The year’s most highly anticipated game (i.e MY most anticipated game) Mass effect 3 will grace us with its presence in a few short weeks.  Until then we can satiate ourselves with the recently released demo.  The good news?  The demo is really fun and gives you a nice taste of what’s to come.  The bad?  That taste is not enough…but that’s a good thing too I guess.
